When in 2012 the British Film Institute and the National Film Archive took over the task of preserving the archive of COI films it was announced that they numbered 23,000 films. Sadly the COI records that accompanied the films were by no means complete.
The searchable lists that follow provide a substantial and representative picture of “The Films We Made”.There is a distinction made between films produced for use in the UK that is documentary films, television commercials, television fillers and the television programs and news material produced for the Overseas Information Service.
The lists do not provide a complete account of all the films produced by COI Film Division because COI records were not in good order when the organisation closed in 2012.
